The Multitude (Batumi, Georgia)

photographs by Julia Grummitt

i have spent the past six months living in batumi, georgia. these photographs were taken along the black sea coast, from the boulevard where i would walk every afternoon. the boulevard stretches the entire city and is a transitional space between sea and land. it’s a cross-section of a world in which everything is developing or falling apart. there is a pattern and repetition in these photographs that reflects everyday life in a post-soviet country.
